School St. 13 & 14

More School St. strips. I'm trying to stick to getting two a week done at bare minimum. So here's this week's output.

Pretty happy with these. They both use an extreme long shot for the dialog-heavy sections. A very handy tool I've just added to the toolbox.

I've also become very fussy about where the speech bubbles are placed, and I've started using more rectangular speech bubbles as well. Not only do I like the way they look, they're also more space-efficient than the more traditional round bubble.

Here are some more School St. strips. These have a lot more dialog, and it's been challenging to fit it all in. But the Zombie strip was actually made better by the process than what I had originally planned. Plus, you just can't go wrong drawing zombies.

I'm also trying to use more black in my work, which you can see in both these strips.

School St. 9 & 10

It's been a busy weekend. Two more School St. Strips. This one — "Phone Number" — is Martin's favorite. I like it too.

In fact, I like both of these. They're simple, both in their language and in the drawing, and I think that tends to work really well.

I'm also getting more comfortable drawing kids. I was worried about it at first, but now I'm starting to like it. There's a lot of freedom to play with proportions and create funny characters because the proportions of children are so crazy to begin with. Those giant heads!
